Back to work on Monday as the WorldSBK grid head out on track to test

After a Race weekend to remember at the Pirelli Riviera di Rimini Round, the Italian action doesn’t stop there as an official test day gets underway on Monday after the Races. A double for Jonathan Rea leaves the reigning Champion well set-up for the track time, as well as teammate Tom Sykes who will be eager to figure out the way forward after coming close to his teammate throughout the weekend. The KRT duo didn’t test at Misano earlier in June either, instead heading to the Circuito de Jerez, and will get more good data on the new Ninja from a different track.

Honda rider Michael van der Mark has plans to test big setup changes on Monday, looking to return to regular podium contention and ready to take advantage of the longer periods on track to try some bigger changes. With Fridays also ruling entry into Tissot-Superpole 2, the limited track time means larger changes of direction in setup and electronics can be costly if they go wrong. The Honda team of the Dutchman and legendary American teammate Nicky Hayden did test at Misano ahead of Round 8, but are now free to use the further track time to focus on the bike rather than the upcoming race weekend in Italy. Hayden will be looking for as much information as possible on the Honda ahead of his first WorldSBK races at his home track Laguna Seca.

Ducati pairing Chaz Davies and Davide Giugliano will both be out on track for the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team, and will the only Panigale Rs on the circuit as Xavi Forés will not be present with Barni Racing Team. IodaRacing Aprilia will have Alex De Angelis and Lorenzo Savadori on the circuit to gain more information on their RSV4 1000 RF in the team’s first year in WorldSBK.

Pata Yamaha will field the same line up as their test in early June at the Italian venue, with Alex Lowes healthier as his collarbone continues recovering and injured-teammate Sylvain Guintoli’s replacement Niccolo Canepa ready to get down to work once again following two top ten finishes for the team at Pata’s home Round.

Althea BMW rider Markus Reiterberger will be a notable absence on track after suffering a highside in Race 2 and getting sidelined until after Laguna, and will be replaced by STK1000 teammate Raffaele de Rosa with the Italian joined on test duty by Spaniard Jordi Torres. Milwaukee BMW plan to test with both race riders Josh Brookes and Karel Abraham.
